It's not necessarily what's at the end of the road it's what we see along the way. Anticipation of something tends to be better than actually getting it. Unless you're God you can't know the future but as a man we can predict it and who doesn't want a happy future? Cass Sunstein says it best when he says in his essay “uncertainty allows people to see the future in the most optimistic light, and it also keeps people’s attention focused on it, which increases its allure.” pg 552. However, the theme that Cole makes most evident is that happiness comes from within, that nothing should permeate the love and happiness that comes from inside. This can be seen clearly as the chorus of the song is the phrase, “No such thing as life that’s better than yours”. Cole is trying to stress that no matter what you possess or don’t have, true happiness cannot be achieved without “loving yourself” as he describes. Life will always seem somewhat smaller when compared to another that has more. Cole tops it off with the line, “For what’s money without happiness,” which is referring to the widely-known “money can’t buy happiness” quote.…

When it comes to money, happiness is temporary because money will eventually end if no effort to save is involved. The continuous accumulation of “stuff” can and will quickly drain all funds from checking, savings, and credit card accounts. Ramsey and Ramsey stated that “stuffitis is a deadly disease where the bearer has an insatiable desire for only good stuff.” This is also a point where items such as clothing, vehicles, jewelry, housing, furniture, etc. are all top of the market type of things that are gained at any means necessary. Continuing on, the desire to have more stuff is not actually benefiting the person making the purchases, but the business or organization receiving the funds.…

Money and material possessions does not lead to happiness because some people that are rich and have many nice things like cars and others could still be depressed. Also because someone could have money, but could also have a mental illness. For example, if a famous person is going through some metal problems and is not happy, but they still have money which is not making things better. Money could not buy friends for you to be happy and also family. This means that if you have real friends and family you wouldn't have to use your money to make them be your friend or family.…
