Most companies and organizations have a mission and a vision statement. This is the company's way of communicating their future plans, goals and their pledge to their employees and their customers. Companies will typically have one mission statement and one vision statement that will blanket the entire company, or each department may have their own statements. A mission statement is the overall reason the company has been developed and its intentions. “The mission statement supports the vision and serves to communicate purpose and direction to employees, customers, vendors and other stakeholders” (Society for Human Resource Management, 2012). These strategic plans are executed by the top executive managers and are based on a one to five year timeline (Kinicki & Williams, 2016). Department managers will then implement tactical planning from the information provided to them from the upper management. Tactical planning is used when department managers need to determine what contributions their departments or similar work units can make given their resources during the next 6-24 months (Kinicki & Williams, 2016). The two techniques of planning differ in who uses the techniques and the length of time. The upper management will set and plan for long-term goals using strategic planning, while the department management will implement tactical planning in order to accomplish smaller goals on the way to meeting the ultimate achievement set forth by upper management. We have over 20 specialties available for our patients and their families. Every specialty from dermatology to urology we have in one place, which allows for better continuity of care and easier access for our patients. “Our vision is to be a leading contributor to community health through participation in programs that promote wellness, facilitate diagnosis, and enhance treatment of disease” (MMC, 2016). I believe the vision statement is appropriate and describes the clinic well in stating that they are striving to be a leading healthcare contributor in the community and communicates their plans to achieve that. MMC is a healthcare organization that is very community oriented and participates frequently in several different programs in order to raise money for various local charities throughout middle Tennessee. In addition to that, MMC is also committed to its employees. We have what is called a service day and this benefits employees that may be struggling through a rough patch in their lives. Evryone throughout the clinic have the option to make a small donation every Friday in exchange to wear jeans instead of the normal business casual attire. These donations then go into a pool and each month an employee will be nominated by a department to receive the money that was raised.
