The leaders of the colonist stuck their neck out and ricked everything by writing and signing that declaration. They were giving up everything for a chance of something new. Martin Luther King devoted his adult life to his cause and died with it in his heart. He was harassed and heckled by racists every day. Yet despite his adversities he pushed through and kept on preaching freedom. His “I have a dream” speech was a significant part in the segregation movement. Had he given up who knows where we would be today! Same with the colonists. Had they played scared and just went with Britain’s tyranny we may still be living in the world of fish and chips. Today’s society doesn’t realize the kind of hardships these men had to overcome. In both cases what they were doing meant death if not successfully
