However, one has to learn how to cope with it. I learned that one should not let it get to them and make people more knowledgeable, instead of stooping to their level. Especially, in me pursuing to become a Nurse I will experience prejudice in my workplace. People will not let me care for them because they are afraid of me. Afraid of the hijab I wear, and solely just because of my skin color will intimidate them. I would learn how to communicate with them. If I 'm being discriminated against, before arguing with my patient I will try and talk to them. I will show them that I am not a person they should fear. I will listen to my patient and see why he/she thinks this way. You never know my patient may have had a bad experience or has never met another Muslim, Black person before. However, no matter the issue I will always treat my patient just like I do with my other patients. No matter the situation, I will always stand up for myself. I will tell the patient how his/her words affected me. I will educate my patient and tell his/her that what I am not what the media portrays me as. Most importantly, I will show my patient no matter his/her refusing my care I am solely here to help them and care for them as best as I can. If things get out of hand, I will go to my supervisor and tell him about the situation. I have to realize that I as a minority, I will encounter with this a lot
