Inspirational, hero, and amazing are three words that can be used to describe Alicia Appleman-Jurman. Many people know that Alicia Appleman-Jurman was a holocaust survivor, but she was so much more. As a well known holocaust survivor, Alicia Appleman-Jurman, helped save many Russian and Jewish people evade from capture and torture. She left a legacy as a symbol for what people can accomplish from just the goodness of their heart. The origin of Alicia Appleman- Jurman started when her brother, Moshe, had been killed by Russian officers. When Russia had started to take over Poland, they told everyone that if you go to the Russian Universities, you and your family would have a safer life, so after hearing this, Moshe went to the University to study for his family's well being. But, the universities in Russia were in bad shape. The kids at the Universities were being forced into labor and if their work and studying were not efficient enough then they were brutally beaten.( Damninteresting.com) Moshe then later escaped the

Appleman loved the people who read her book and cared very deeply for them. Even on her own website, she had put her own personal phone number so anyone who would like to talk to her about themselves or her book would be welcomed to talk. She had said on her website,” I want my readers to know that they possess strength within themselves to use in time of need.”(Appleman, Web) This evidence shows how much she loves her readers and believe that they can become even a greater person than she was. Once, a woman had called Appleman, and she was crying on the phone. She had said that she had just finished reading her book and she was so sorry for what had happened to her.( HolocaustCenter.com) The woman said she needed to hear her voice.
