Hypocrisy takes over Maycomb In Harper Lee’s to Kill a Mockingbird, hypocrisy is shown in most parts of the book. The book has a very conflicting storyline which keeps it interesting for the reader. A lot of the main characters in this book are witnesses of the hypocrisy. Scout is a witness to various forms of hypocrisy, most of them have been from the women in Maycomb. Scouts teachers are both guilty of hypocritical words and actions. Miss Carolina unfairly punishes Scout. Even though Scout was trying to give the inexperienced teacher who is new to Maycomb an understanding of the people in the town. Miss Caroline believes in herself educationally superior

Atticus says “ Alexandra , Calpurnia’s not leaving this until she wants to. You may think otherwise, but I couldn’t get along without her all these years” (Lee 182). Aunt Alexandra thinks that becomes she is now living in the house they should get rid of Calpurnia. But at the end of the Aunt Alexandra still needs her because when she arrived at the house she made Calpurnia take her bags the house. When Aunt Alexandra needs Calpurnia to set up something she will do it. When Tom Robinson was put into the Maycomb’s jail, Atticus had gone downtown that night and Jem, Scout and Dill had followed. They come to find that Atticus was not at his office but, he was sitting outside the jails door. When in one's and two’s, men got out of cars and head towards the jail doors. In the group of men Scout seemed to recognize Mr. Cunningham. “ Don’t you remember me, Mr. Cunningham.. I’m Jean Louise Finch.. You brought us some Hickory nuts one time, remember” (Lee 205) Mr. Cunningham was a hypocrite , even though Atticus helped him get out of some legal affairs. Tom Robinson see’s Mr. Ewell looking through the window. Tom heard what Bob Ewell said to Mayella. “ You goddamn whore, I’ll kill ya” ( Lee 260). Bob Ewell was the one who beat her up, he was a drunken man who didn’t care about his children. All he does is lie through his teeth and does a poor job at covering up his more based qualities. When court was resumed Judge, Taylor was polling the jury: “Guilty.... guilty…. guilty….guilty…” (Lee 282). With some much evidence thrown at them, they stayed closed minded and put Tom Robinson in
