Register to read the introduction… Many people don’t realize that hunger and malnutrition is a problem that many Americans face on a daily basis. Perhaps, we have overlooked the obvious failing to realize that our country is not perfect and is subject to "third-world" problems such as starvation. “It is morally reprehensible that we live in the wealthiest nation in the world where one in six people are struggling to make choices between food and other basic necessities” (Escarra). For decades we, as Americans, have gone above and beyond the call of duty and aid other countries that were faced with problems such as malnutrition and hunger. Sadly, though we have failed to aid ourselves and bring an end to our own country's problem. Instead of feeding the needy here in the U.S., we continue to send food to other countries. This is not a bad thing. However, we as Americans need to take care of ourselves, as well as …show more content…
One solution to this is to donate food. You can help many families by donating cans of food or by having a can food drive. Secondly, you can give money. Any extra change lying around can save a family from hunger. Lastly, be an advocate. It takes more than food to fight hunger. Although the common person probably won't have a big impact on ending world hunger, by being aware of the issues you become empowered and want to make a change. Letting people know the real causes and effects may lead them to make a one. Not only to make themselves feel better about it, but to make someone feel better about themselves.
There is a general idea about hunger, which is most of the times associated with the least developed countries in the world. Few people, however, actually see hunger as being a problem here in the US. Still, despite the general evolution of the society as a whole, there are a growing number of poor people. Therefore, it is important to consider the degree in which hunger represents a major issue for the America's poor population. Hunger plays an essential role in the lives of those with limited financial means.
Persistence of hunger is one of the most disturbing and extraordinary aspects of life. Poor nutrition, health, and federal assistance are all problems with this. The hardest hit being the elderly and young babies because of their age and stable ability. Donate food, give money, and be an advocate are all solutions in fighting hunger. People in the community can get together to stop hunger and save lives. It’s only a matter of time before time runs out. Put yourself in their shoes and help stop hunger
