The senior citizen population rises as life expectancy increases. There are many things that can be done to help these senior citizens feel that they are still needed and valued within our community. I believe senior citizen as volunteers can help contribute to the community by offering their wealth of knowledge and experience. They can encourage the practice of active ageing for themselves and the community and be provided platforms to share their passion after their retirement.

These can be sets of different passion that they may not have the chance to fulfil during their years of working life. These passion can come in the form of talents like painting, cake decorating, poetry writing or even playing a music instrument. Our existing and future programmes will offer various platforms and opportunities for the seniors to feature their passion. By volunteering, senior volunteers can be provided platforms to share their passion to help deliver a variety of programmes for our beneficiaries. And sharing these passion in volunteer activities is good for their self-satisfaction, sense of worth and promote feelings of being valued for their ability. (Stroud, 2013)
Our organization have been lacking in manpower to conduct specific esthetic programmes due to the specific skill sets required for these programme. For instance, we have yet to run our crotchet stitching classes since we are not able to find suitable candidates to lead the programme. But due to high demands for the programme, our benefiaciaries are still looking forward for the programme to commence. By having these passionate senior volunteers to impart their passion, we will be able to launch these programmes in the near
