Manière, moda, adet, gewoonte, mönster, voga, манера, fashion. They all mean the same thing to us even they are said differently depending on your coordinates on the map. Clothing was first worn by humans 170,000 years ago (Viegas, 2011). To this day, we depend on clothing to obviously cover ourselves, keep us warm, to express ourselves, to explicit individuality, and even to react to political and social issues that occur around us at all times. Throughout the decades, many could say fashion has evolved tremendously. We went from wearing simple pieces of cloth tied around our waists with sandals during biblical times, to an endless variety of fabrics, shoes, tops, pants, and dresses that can be worn. Accessories have been added to the mix, where anything could be matched up with a watch, hat, or necklace. The opportunities and options are merely ceaseless. Of course though, there are many different trends and fads that take place throughout time. One of the most important decades where fashion was very influential and changed dramatically over the years was the 1960’s. During this decade, American suffered many controversial issues over the Vietnam War, the fight for civil rights, and the death of beloved President John F. Kennedy. The fashion industry began to transform as history was happening in the 60’s. Due to the political and social issues occurring during the 1960’s, a variety of fashions and trends during that time period played a huge role in American society.
