In an attempt to increase their effectiveness and capabilities, the military has employed the use of unmanned ariel vehicles (UAV’s). Many types of UAV’s exist, from simple survilence drones to weaponized drones capable of firing missiles. These drones are commonly used in military operations for survelence and targeted hunting. The military should continue using drones because they provide an inexpensive oppurtunity to increase tactical superiority and keep our soldiers safe. One of the benefits of using drones to complete missions is the ability to put the drone in harms way instead of a soldier. This not only helps the military accomplish dangerous missions in an effective manner but also reduces the risk of soldiers dying in action. Targetted hunting is a military operation in which the military targets one specific person, specifically a criminal and in most recent cases terrorists. These missions used to be near impossible for a couple reasons. First, too much time would lapse between reconissance and the deployment of troops. Secondly, these operations can be extremely risky and demand a great ammount of troops and supplies. According to Amy B. The answer to this problem is similar to the one from before, a nations policies and morals will decide how the drones are used and according to Kenneth Anderson (2013) America is using “drone warfare in a far more limited way, legally and morally, and entirely within the bounds of international law.” ( para. 54) Just because we are using the drones within the limits of international law that does not mean that other countries developing similar drones will. Currently the United States is using drones in an ethical manner but wether we stay on that path depends completely on our politial and military leaders. If we follow all the rules of engagement and the other policies set up concerning war and warfare, assuming those are just policies, then there should be no problem concerning the ethical use of
