Family Health History There are more than a couple health problems that run in my family, the first of the health problems is high blood pressure. My grandmother on my father’s side of the family had high blood pressure from an early age that was controlled by medication. My father was also diagnosed when I was a child with high blood pressure that had to be controlled with medication. My mother’s parents did not have a history of high blood pressure that I know of, but my mother does. My sister and I both have high blood pressure, mine is controlled by medication and I’m not sure how hers is controlled. I do know that my father got to the ninth grade in high school and my mother got to tenth before the dropped out. My sister graduated from PCHS in 1992 and I graduated early from PCHS in 1995. My course of study in high school was the certified nursing assistant program. After a number of years I decided to go back to school at NRCC and obtained my LPN. Thirteen years later I am now at RU studying Social Work. As for my children, my oldest son Harley graduated from PCHS in 2012, my son Logan is now attending PCHS and is taking electrical and welding classes and my daughter Kayleigh attends Riverlawn Elementary and loves …show more content…
My grandfather on my mother’s side of the family worked at the Foundry in Radford from the time he was a teenager until he lost his eye while pouring hot metal when he was in his forties. After the accident he went to work for a little place across from the Foundry called Rent-All where he worked on all of the rental equipment. My grandmother on my mother’s side never worked because my grandfather said he always wanted to take care of her. Because my father did not graduate high school the only job he could get was at the Foundry in Radford working something called knock out were the employee used a sledgehammer twelve hours a night to flatten medal. His second job was a job that my mother helped him get at St. Albans psychiatric facility in Radford, again my father had no diploma or GED so his work at St. Albans was limited to housekeeping. My mother had gotten her GED so the first job she was given was at St. Albans as a unit secretary and she worked there until retirement. My sister started out working in fast food restaurants when she was in high school but went to work at a sock factory in Pulaski, Va. soon after she graduated. She continued to work at the factory for a few years and then she got married and quit her job. I did not have a job while I was in high school, but as soon as I graduated I decided to take a
