Cognitive behavioral therapy is one form of psychotherapy in which patients learn skills to use out in the world whether it’s a job, school, or living at home it focuses more on changing behavior, (Beck, J.). It is a short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. Its goal is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people’s difficulties, and so change the way they feel (Martin, B. 2013).This is used to change negative behaviors that are potentially self destructive to the self so it is used to replace bad habits with good ones by using classical conditioning. Many times, the reasons why they usually are hitting others and pulling others hair is out of frustration and not being able to express themselves they would they would like. Since we cannot hit a child because it is against the law and is bad for the child themselves we try to use other tactics to get the child to stop and apologize. One thing that we do is that we take that child’s hand and make sure that they are looking at us and have a semi angered face and tell them that what they did was wrong and show them that the other child is hurting, in the other child’s case they are usually crying. We tell them that they have to say sorry and then take their hand and tell them soft touches so that they understand that hitting isn’t ok and that if they do want to touch the other child they have to do it softly.
