Personal Narrative: Heart Is Stronger Than Muscle

Heart is stronger than Muscle If I have learned anything from my freshmen and sophomore year, that would be size doesn’t matter. Now that phrase, size doesn’t matter, is a classical quote but i found another way to look at it. During freshmen and sophomore year, i was playing JV football. My first and only two years that I played. Due to my lack of experience, I didn’t get much play time but I did had my help on the practice field. On or off the field, I was still part of that team, that JV football team. Thus I gave my shot at it. The quote, “size doesn’t matter” I gave that a new definition. When I joined the football team in the summer, we was just lifting. So no big deal. I liked to lift anyways, I did the work outs and everything. But when we got outside and started conditioning, oh god! Was I ready to puke or what? I was very tired but I didn’t want to quit, I had to show that I’m good enough to be that running back and that I can be good, even though I lack experience. I was fine with conditioning, but what really changed me is… camp. When we started camp, we got our helmets. No biggie, but we was starting to get rough. So I followed through, trying to blend in, but very much shy. I don’t like hitting people in general, but its still early so okay, no hits yet. When we got those pads, lower and upper pads, thats where the fun began …show more content…

Thus in football, the quote “size doesn’t matter” does not apply here, because what matters is the heart and soul that creates those bonds together. Those bonds form up to create the best of all: family. Short or tall, strong or weak, it doesn’t matter what does is the heart and soul that you put into the sport and the bond that you create with

I was not surprised—I knew the basic principles of exercise—but my knowledge had not prevented me from feeling like I was barely improving during those practices. The season finally began that fall, and I was disappointed to hear that I had not been chosen as a starter for the team. All hope was not lost, however, because the coach told the backup players that if we improved, we could be made starters. The season went on and I kept improving and finally, we made it to the state championships. After substituting in the end of the semi-finals, my coach pulled me aside and told me that I would be starting as middle linebacker for the final championship game.…

As the sun plummets to its end on a Friday evening, in a small town just north of the capital of Texas. Businesses become calm and streets become lifeless, as an entire community packs into a stadium anxious to see their team go into battle versus that week’s opponent. As a four year old I wasn’t able to realize that I was witnessing the greatest football team to ever come through Burnet High School, as they demolished every team that was brave enough to step in front of them week after week.…

The summer before my senior year, I suddenly realized I had in four years, only collected ten volunteer hours out of the sixty required to earn an honors diploma. Quickly, I began scouring the internet and local listings for any possible opportunities which I would be able to earn hours. The perfect opportunity had been right in front of me for all four years, and I hadn’t even realized; Kenston offers a student athletic training program where students are able to shadow the school athletic trainer and learn the basics of athletic training and first aid. I emailed the athletic trainer who I vaguely knew from having been mildly concussed my previous lacrosse season , and asked if I would be able to join in volunteering during the football…

Og Mandino once said, “Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” I strongly agree with this quote as I have had experiences in which this quote proved itself. I once tried out for a football team and nearly didn’t make it, but my determination to succeed was strong enough to earn myself a spot on a new football team. I have played football since I was five, but I never faced the challenge of trying out for a team. Going into tryouts, I felt intimidated by the older kids trying out, but I didn’t allow that to break my focus on giving my all.…
