I stand before you tonight because of love — love that was given to me and displayed in its purest, sacrificial form. This evening, I would like to share with you how that love has changed my life.

When my parents enrolled me at Milkins Academy 13 years ago, they recognized the fact that the value of a Christian education is far greater than a new house or car. The material possessions that they have forfeited through the years have allowed me to remain in an environment in which I can see Christ lived out every day. For the sacrificial love that my parents have displayed, together with the parents of all my class members, I am exceedingly grateful.

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

That love story, I believe, is the greatest one ever lived. That God could love us when we were His enemies and in such opposition to Him, astounds me. He loved us so that we could love Him! Without Him, we are nothing, and yet by simply believing and asking Christ to come be the Lord of our life, He gives us everything we need, for He is all we need. It is as simple as that. Christ has changed my life with His love, and He is continuing to change me to become more like Him every day. I want all of you to know that I am nothing without Christ. The joy, the love and the fortitude in my life comes not from my own weak attempt at strength, but only from the life of God lived out in me. I desire everyone here tonight to know Christ as well. I am not perfect yet, for in the words of Paul, written in Philippians 3:12-14, I must say, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold
