Register to read the introduction… We don’t know that now of course, we can’t see the future. But I’m sure many of you have some idea of where you’d like to be, in a dream career perhaps or a stable, loving family. Or maybe you don’t know what you want to be, but you know who you want to be; a compassionate friend, someone who helps others and gives back to the community, a person who’s always willing to try something new. The best path will lead you to happiness, and can be taken by working hard at something you enjoy. Do not strive for success solely for success’s sake. Discover what you truly want to do and then pursue it with all you have, and if your dream changes then so be it, don’t be afraid to change with it. Sometimes life may force you to take another path, out of necessity, but do not forget your dreams and don’t stop looking for that opportunity to follow

The challenge of getting ahead in our society stems from the idea that an individual’s future is solely determined by what and where they come from rather than who they are. Many people, for whatever reason, think that poverty is permanent, that first-generation college students cannot succeed, that only white males can hold advanced positions at work. There are clearly exceptions to all of these stereotypes and every individual has the power to become one of those exceptions. Simply making a goal and figuring out what steps are needed to achieve that goal, will motivate a person to act on that goal and actually give them the chance to succeed.…
