Even if it is bad advice, I will learn to be more careful and try to think more when I give somebody else advice. I realize that advice has to be personal. It should have a link to previous experiences. If the advice is impersonal (Like in my paper, I just had a question about something my advisor experienced), then the advisor should be business like. If it is dealing with the actual person, then the advisor should take the time to listen and try to understand every aspect of the situation. I also learned, today actually, that size doesn't matter. The advice is there; so take whatever parts you want. In good advice, I should never feel forced to take all of the advice. So, as the advisor, I should let the advisee take what he/she needs and let him/her leave what he/she doesn't need. That doesn't mean that good advice is jumbled because it really should be to the point so when I advise someone, the advisee doesn't lose interest in what I tell him. If I really know the person (Like Jeanne's mom knows Jeanne) then I should be able to tell when enough advice is enough to turn on a light bulb and let the advisee do the rest. Finally, good advice also depends on the people's attitudes. They both have to be willing to listen and talk; otherwise the advice won't have the full effect. As Mike and Nate Hilson pointed out, you have to be ready for the advice you receive to make that advise …show more content…
Morgan started out with. Is there a connection to writing well and giving good advice? I would definitely have to say yes. Its what made me realize it that is important. Today we talked about those contractions and which one gave the best advice. Well, I picked C. Then I went back and looked at exactly why I picked that one. I realized that I picked it because it was written well. This is the same way Mr. Morgan grades writing well. The author of C took the time to realize every different aspect of the situation, used his/her writing skills to write it, and then added some examples to let the reader get a full understanding of the subject. This is the foundation of good advice. The other two just wrote some things down that were not thought out well enough to give me a good understanding. They also kind of told me, "Okay. This is how it is. Don’t do this, but do that." This made me feel forced which was my initial concern about advice. The biggest connection with good advice and writing isn't within the phonics or the way it is written. The biggest connection is within the total thought process of both of them. If I want to write a good paper, I should sit and think about it. I should ask myself, "Who is the reader, and what should I do to get the desired effect from them?" This is the same with advice. In writing, I should take the time to think personally about what I want to write about. I’ll analyze
