Global Warming Caused By Humans Essay

Global Warming: Caused By Humans Earth is a sacred place. One single planet to house seven billion individuals, and that number is constantly growing. If the planet is damaged then there is no way of getting a new one. Elisabeth Corrall’s article “Global Warming is Happening Now” states that Earth’s average temperature has risen one and a half degrees fahrenheit over the past century, and it is estimated to rise another half to eight and a half degrees fahrenheit in the next one hundred years (Corrall). These small changes in the temperature can result in large and potentially dangerous shifts in the Earth’s climate. Multiple places around the world have seen a major change in rainfall over the years, resulting in more floods, droughts, intense …show more content…
The harmful chemicals put into the earth’s atmosphere are not only damaging the ozone layer, but they are also harming the air that humans, animals, and many other things in nature take in every single day. In an article by Jennifer Bergman titled “Air Pollution” she states that air pollution can range from many things including, smog and acid rain. Smog is a fog or haze that is combined with smoke and other atmospheric pollutants. Smog makes it harder to see, and it also makes the air harder to breath. Acid rain is rainfall made sufficiently acidic by atmospheric pollution. It causes environmental harm typically to forests and lakes. The main cause of acid rain is the industrial burning of coal and other fossil fuels, the waste gases from which contain sulfur and nitrogen oxides, which combine with atmospheric water to form acids. Air pollution is not new to the world. People started complaining about coal dust, and soot in the air as far back as the thirteenth century. Not only is air pollution ugly to the eyes, but it can also result in illness, and eventually death. Air pollution can damage buildings, crops, and wildlife. The worst case of air pollution was recorded in London when a dense smog formed in December 1952, and lasted until March of 1953. Four thousand people were reported dead in one week, and eight thousand died within six months (Bergman). Air pollution can either be primary or secondary. Primary …show more content…
The burning of trash and leaves results in the pollution of the air due to unfiltered smoke. When burning certain things, such as tires or rubber, the burnt product produces a large amount of black smoke. Smoke is harmful to the lungs and it also plays a role in the damaging of trees. Not only is burning trash and leaves bad, but also burning cigarettes. There are many harmful chemicals put into each and every single cigarette that is produced. When a smoker smokes a cigarette, those harmful chemicals are being put into the atmosphere and the air that is breathed. Also, when a smoker is done smoking a cigarette they tend to flick the butt of the cigarette on the ground. This results in ground

In the economy, the government plays a minimalistic role and intervenes only when necessary. However, there is an issue defining the amount of government intervention which should occur. The Coase Theorem provides guidelines when dealing with externalities; government involvement is not needed when ownership of property is defined clearly, only a small number of people are affected, and bargaining costs are insignificant. In cases such as pollution, private bargaining can not remedy the negative externality, and government involvement becomes unavoidable. One type of pollution which has required the government to arbitrate is emissions because the emissions are released into the air, a large number of people are affected, and the environment…

Some pollutants such as volcanoes or wildfires occur naturally and we don't have any control over their effects. When a volcano erupts, vast amounts of carbon dioxide and other toxic gases are released into the atmosphere. Too much carbon dioxide in our air is not a good thing, and things like deforesting certainly do not help when it comes to making our air healthier.…

Global climate change is a serious matter at hand and it is not something that can be overlooked, the world needs to assess the situation and come up with a solution to resolve this growing problem before it is too late. There has been many questions that have developed over the years in regards to how climate change has impacted the Earth both positively and negatively. Over the years, there have been many widespread speculations that humans are one of the main contributing factors to the major physical changes that the world has endured over the years and based off various scientific studies…

Human activities are a major source of air pollution in our cars, trucks, and other forms of transportation do a great deal to pollute in the air. The book, Pollution Opposing Viewpoints, claims that there are varieties of ways that influence air pollution, but “the most common contaminants come from burning of petroleum hydrocarbon, the using of pesticides and industrial and domestic discharges due to those contaminants entering into the environment” (Roleff 26). Petroleum hydrocarbon is released by industrial factories and affects us all. The power plants burning coal and factories produce dust generated by construction works. Factories and power plants should be set up far from the residential area.…

Human Involvement in Climate Change There is no doubt that the earth at an alarming rate is getting warmer, but the debate is whether the climate change is caused by humans. In the past one hundred years the carbon emissions have risen significantly, also in the past one hundred years the earth's surface temperature has increased at an alarming rate. What connects this to human activity is the fact that in the past 100 years many factories have been built emitting carbon (Harvey 1) , but most of all the burning of fossil fuels has emitted an enormous amount of carbon-ten million metric tons(Bringham 25) in the atmosphere! Every car, train, plane, house heating system uses fossil fuels for energy but also emits carbon in the atmosphere.…

The apocalypse is an idea that people talk about regularly in today’s society. From a zombie outbreak to a major flood, anything could lead to the end of time as we know it. However, nothing is more frightening or real than the threat of catastrophic climate change. Climate change is the result of exponential amounts of carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere, which causes the earth to trap heat in between the surface and the ozone causing a drastic temperature change and extreme changes to global climates. This temperature change can cause a number of issues for all life on earth.…

Global warming is being caused by humans and something should be done about it. The reason global warming is so prevalent is because people do not know they are hurting the environment and some people do not believe it is real. There will be consequences to everyone if nothing is done about it. Around the world, less than half the people in the UK (43 percent), Germany (49 percent), and Norway (34 percent) believe that global warming is caused by civilization (Le Page).…

Global warming, defined as the gradual increase in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere, which is generally associated to human interference, has a huge impact on our daily lives. The problem known as global warming is usually credited to the greenhouse effect, a phenomenon caused by gasses such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and water vapor which trap the heat coming from the sun into the atmosphere and restrain the heat from escaping back into space. The heat which is in turn trapped in the atmosphere increases earth’s overall heat. This problem, although naturally occurring, at a certain extent, has been drastically increase by human hand. If we continue increasing our rates of carbon emission not only will the environment…
