The giant panda, also known as panda bear is a bear that is native to south central China. The scientific classification of the giant panda is that it originates from the kingdom: Animalia, phylum: Chordata, class: Mammalia, family: Ursidae, genus: Ailuropoda, and species: A. melanoleuca3. The giant panda has been added to the endangered species list in 2007. Conservation needs to be done by humans to prevent damage to the world that humans have caused. Without conservation, our lives will change and it is important to get involved in environmentally friendly habits sooner rather than later. Problems like extinction, global warming and fighting over resources are only going to get worse in the years coming unless the present generation does something about it. Giant pandas have been the global symbol of wildlife conservation for many years. The mortality of pandas has been due to numerous factors such as habitat loss, starvation, poaching, reproductive biology, and parasitic threats. There is a great impact to biodiversity loss if these issues are not dealt in time to keep the giant panda from extinction.

Due to economic development in China, pandas have lost much of their habitat and are still being hunted for their fur. Poaching is the illegal taking of wildlife, in violation of local, state, federal or international law4. Poaching of giant pandas in China occurs in order to obtain their fur. Giant panda fur is rare and very expensive, averaging to about $65,0004. Moreover, it is very easy to get the giant pandas; around five to six people will go out to the areas with a heavy-duty metal cage, put bamboo sticks in the cage, and capture them. They drive them back and take the fur, which leads to their death. China has now put many laws and regulations on the protection of giant pandas that makes it very difficult to
