This nation wide law would allow adults go to bed at 11:00 at night and wake up between 6:00 and 7:00 in the morning on weekdays. Each individual would obtain a continuous amount of rest with enough sleep to keep them healthy. For this to be enforced, all stores would close and activities would stop prior to that time including TV, computers, and other leisure activities. A siren would sound once at 6:00 and once at 7:00. On weekends, the bed time would be at midnight and the wakeup time would be between 7:00 and 8:00 respectively. This schedule would help society significantly by making a set sleeping period for America. It has also been proven that patients with insomnia can benefit from restructuring their bedtime habits and sleep-wake cycles. With 7-8 hours of sleep per night, there will be many less problems with sleep disorders, accidents in cars and planes, and other health concerns. Shakespeare once commented on sleep as, "the great restorer." We need to understand the function and importance of sleep and relate this to improving our health and our bodies.
