Gaining knowledge can be defined as acquiring, increasing, or advancing information on a subject. We will establish a network as being two or more. The prompt asks us to discuss networks of way of knowing in the act of gaining knowledge. I will be exploring this prescribed title using Mathematics which uses the ways of knowing Reason and Intuition, and History which ues Language, Emotion, and Reason. We can say with absolute certainty that most things are not absolutely certain. How can we say that reason is employed when the reasoning is based on past reasoning which may still be fallacious. A whole time period of history could fall apart is we discover something that changed the foundation that period was based on like. Emotion also can negate reason. Objectively there are pros and cons of imperialism. However many European countries at one point felt guilty about their past involving colonization. As a result the world was flooded with information about how imperialism was wrong even though many good things came out of imperialism, for example life expectancy in Africa increased, literacy rate rose, hospitals and schools were built. Reliance on one way of knowing can limit a knower’s experience and thus their gain of knowledge. Utilizing only one way of knowing can also lead to misconceptions and faulty truths. Despite this a person can gain accurate knowledge utilizing one of the ways of knowing but it will most likely be hit or miss on future gains. This implies that each way of knowing only covers certain aspects of knowledge and in order to fully realize the truth we must be open to multiple sources of information. If we use both intuition and reasoning in mathematics we can avoid for the most part errors and gain knowledge. If we use reasoning, and are aware of emotion and perception in history we can avoid biased works and synthesize a relatively objective truth. In taking more than one way of knowing into account perhaps we can avoid the inherent shortcomings of the ways of knowing and push forward to gain more accurate and new
