One of the most crucial factors needed in a culture or a society would be kinship. Kinship is the relation between family members where it is father to son or mother to daughter. Family relations such as these are important in a social level, and kinship has played a key role in history in many different cultures and countries around the world. The Tibetan culture, can be different and similar to many Asian and even Western cultures when it comes to kinship, wedding rituals, and marriage practices.

Both are not allowed to see each other the day before, and throughout the day, monks pray for their wedding to be without bad luck (Xin, 2014). On the wedding day, a man on the groom’s side will be accompanied by a group of people, a horse, and arrows decorated in mirrors, jade, and jewels. The bride’s family will hold a ritual for the bride as a farewell before the groom’s family arrives known as Qiema. When the greeting bride party arrives, the bride must an arrow on her back and a jade on her forehead to show that she is part of the groom’s family (Xin, 2014). The whole party sings on their way to the groom’s house while the bride weeps from being separated from her family. Upon arrival, the bride must trample over on barleys and tea leaves as a symbol of bringing harvest to the groom’s family (Xin, 2014).
