My case analysis is Foxconn Suicides. Foxconn is a world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer company. It headquartered in New Taipei City, and has 12 factories in nine Chinese cities. There had 18 Foxconn employees attempted suicide in 2010,with a minimum of 14 deaths. And in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016 all had workers suicide. Some news states that workers did not had adequate wages and rest time. Foxconn pays the minimum monthly wage of 900 yuan (US$130), food and accommodation are free, 8 hours everyday. If they want to earn more money, they need work overtime, but all workers need to sign a rule that work overtime all the month to get this right of work, that means workers need to work more than 10 hours everyday per month, without rest …show more content…
The first time after suicides happened, the top manager of Langfang Foxconn wanted cover up the news. They did not allow any media interviews this things, at same times supervise the families of the dead and threatened they to sign confidentiality agreement. Everyone always think Foxconn is a sweatshop, it need a friendly organization culture to relax workers and audience’s feeling, improve organization’s reputation. Just like Zaremba said in the textbook “An organization 's culture, which has been called an organization 's DNA, more than any communication strategy, will determine the success of a crisis communication plan.” (P26) A good organization culture can help manager to change the organization’s internal and external. Foxconn need a new, gently organization culture to change people’s think. And I think a gently organization culture can change workers more friendly and reduce their suicide, employees can take care of each other and help them have more friends to resolve their
