Introduction

Common Ground is a local nonprofit in the Shreveport Bossier area. It serves the Cedar Grove neighborhood, which is a neighborhood that is higher in crime and poverty. Common Ground has been creating relationships for over ten years within this neighborhood. Throughout the years they have created programs that help better serve the people within the neighborhood. Common Ground is a faith based organization that works towards following in the ways of Jesus.
History of Common Ground Common Ground was founded in 2004. Some of their volunteers have been investing within the Cedar Grove neighborhood before the nonprofit was established. Grace Community United Methodist Church was the facility in which Common Ground started out of

The Bright House and the two “JJ Houses” are used to house people who are wanting to be a part of the community in Cedar Grove and not just serve.
Mission
The Mission of Common Ground is, “Following Jesus Christ’s example, Common Ground Community, Inc., is committed to making a difference in Cedar Grove through compassionate outreach, building relationships, and acceptance of all people. We serve and build lasting relationships with our neighbors in Cedar Grove who may be hungry or lacking in other basic needs. We are primarily volunteer driven with volunteers from many churches from all over the Shreveport-Bossier-Benton region.” (Common Ground, 2016)
Common Ground Ministries Common Ground breaks their ministries into Thursday Night Activities, Adult Ministries, Youth Ministries, and Greenhouse and Community Garden. Thursday night has chapel service where a guest preacher leads chapel service, community meal where 180 people are served and can share a meal together, community choice market where neighbors have help from personal shoppers to help them pick out meals for them to make it through the week, and then the clothes closet where neighbors can come and shop.
