The liaison between art and fashion design is the same between colors and fabrics . The connection which drove Oscar de la Renta to pursue fashion design coming from a fine arts background. The beauty about fashion design is the fact that every season the designer creates another story to add to the woman of today. In addition, What’s more alluring than dressing a woman? For example, just like an artist adds another layer to their painting, Fashion Design requires more than the first layer. It 's an industry that thrives on hours of work, endless dreams, and coffee . Therefore, having the chance to experience the FIT community already makes the transition between majors smoother.My own experiences in fine art have able to translate a better vision Of the industry. The usual collage boards were made and even drawings of models. The ideas kept becoming sculptures, then wearable dress sculptures as a result. Since that day, FIT had been my goal and determination.My mother supported my artistic journey and getting accepted to my dream school was beyond what we could have envisioned. For two years I was exposed to a world that allow me to grow as an artist and a person. The skills learn in fine arts will be helpful in designing. Such things as color, texture, and drawing are the bases for any career in the arts. Oscar de la Renta went to Spain to study painting, then went to work as an illustrator for Cristobal Balenciaga, then the rest is history. Oscar often said " things never happen by accident.
