Comparing Joseph And Mary In The Gospel Of Luke

There are many stories from the gospel of Luke that surprised me. One of the stories that stood out to me most was the story of Joseph and Mary. It is crazy to think how much trust Mary had for God’s plan. She was willing to do what he wanted her to do with little hesitation. One reason it stood out to me was because it should how faithful someone can be even at a young age. Often times, I find myself justifying my poor decisions on my age, such as not attending church regularly. Yet, Mary was roughly around my age and she was willing to do what God wanted her to do. God is a number of different things and a lot of times it is controlled by my emotions. Some days he is the answers, while other days he is the man I blame for things. I look to him when I am struggling to find answers or need reassurance in my life. I also find myself placing blame on him when I see things that are unfair. For example, a friend of mine’s dad has cancer and they told them to celebrate Christmas early just in case he does not make it. Even for me this was a challenge because during one of the holiest times, they have the challenge of trying to keep it holy and happy knowing that this could be the last time they celebrate Christmas with their father. I think throughout this semester I learning that you have to take the good with the bad. It has really opened up my eyes to new lessons and had my get more in-depth with stories from the bible. By going more in-depth with stories I was better able to learn the lessons that were being taught from them. The class also taught me to have my own moral compass, which is crucial. It is important to have a moral compass because my decisions should not be influenced by others. My own moral compass is what I will use when I am making important choices in my life. I also came to realize that it is okay and even encouraged to question things within my religion. It means that I am getting closer within my relationship to God. By recognizing my relationship with God, I am better able to strengthen and grow from it. I know now that I do not necessarily have to agree with everything my church does and or believes. I can still have a strong, and faithful relationship with God, regardless of how often my views conflict with what is being taught to
