My personality has been affected when I learn and play when the teams are mixed teams. From this it has been affected with my confidence as lowered as I don’t have very much confidence in myself when playing against the boys as they seem have too much competitiveness and seem to take over. According to Charles Sturt University, ‘As an individual begins to learn skills and experiences success, they begin to develop a sense of self-belief in their ability to perform’. Therefore this demonstrates why my stage of learning. Feedback is also important with the affecting factors of learning the physical skill. Feedback ‘provides players with an understanding whether the skill was performed correctly or incorrectly’(Hede, 2015). Feedback can come in four different ways, intrinsic (internal), extrinsic (external), knowledge of results and knowledge of performance. Extrinsic feedback is information that is provided by other sources. This was definitely utilised when I started at the at the low cognitive stage. When in the low cognitive stage this is such a reliable type of feedback as this detects errors in my own performance that I may be unable to pick up myself. A drill is known as ‘a task or exercise for teaching a skill or procedure by repetition’ (TheFreeDictionary.com, 2015). The purpose for these drills will help improve your sports performance. Three drills have helped me improve so far to be almost into the associative stage. The first drill I practised at the start of the term was, to continually hit the ball against the wall. This first drill that I have practiced over this term has been effective and has helped me improve my serve technique. This is evident as I started off at the very start of the cognitive stage and has pushed me to improve the way I perform the technique correctly. This first drill has been classified as a closed drill because of the stable environments. This is because this drill is completely an individual drill allowing not much space between the wall and the person achieving the drill.
