She's gone. An hour ago, the sky was full of red and orange, but all of the colours have faded away into the darkness, just like her. Now my life is just a blank canvas. Only the darkness knows that I exist now, and the police. They have to find her killer. They will.
"Anna!" Mom keeps checking on me after her, "are you okay, dear? I know it's hard."
"Emma Jensen, the girl who drowned or the girl who was murdered? A homicide. A girl killed and thrown into the water. No weapon has been recovered. Murdered on Sunday, at around 11:00 PM at the age of 13. There were handprints on the neck of the victim and many defensive injuries. The cause of the death was the strangling of the throat."

My mom didn't tell them the truth. The complete truth about her being a Mrs. Eva Jensen once upon a time. I, Anna am Paul Jensen's and Eva Rose's daughter. Emma was his ex-wife's daughter. He was my father. I knew. Emma didn't. I was my best friend's step sister.
As I lay in bed, there was an ocean of endless thoughts rushing through my brain. I couldn't close my eyes, even though I had a really long day. I was scared to dream. I can't imagine what she might have gone through. My heart was beating faster than it should. It wasn't anyone's fault. Except mine.
