They say that experience is the greatest teacher one could ever have. I myself can attest to this. The only thing that most people don’t know about experience’s class is that it isn't for the faint-hearted. I believe that I face my problems squarely and that I do everything to avoid trouble. You could say I’m one of those people who follow the rules. In other words, I live quite a boring, normal life. That mindset suddenly changed when one experience shook up my normal life and gave me my most mind-blowing and frightening surprise ever.

I still remember that day clearly. I was in 3rd year high school then, living life as I normally do, overcoming the everyday problems of a teenager. Suddenly I came face to face with trouble, trouble with a capital T. I was sent to our school disciplinarian because I did something that I shouldn’t have. To cut it short, I

It is not a bed of roses. Experience is a great teacher – he will throw you a surprise, whether good or bad, and you will be completely unprepared for it. The best you can do is to stay strong and be true to yourself. Make the most out of whatever life throws at you and try to learn from it. Do not hesitate to make mistakes because it is through these mistakes that you will get to know yourself and become a better person. Just like me, the challenges that experience had thrown in my life has truly helped shape me into the person I am today. I look forward to LIFE and every experience that will come my

In 1986 two Social Psychologists (Markus and Nurius) created the part of the social self called “Possible Selves”. Possible Selves is an image of who you could be in the future or who you were in the past. How we see ourselves is triggered by experiences we go through and what others may tell us. If we experience something negative or are told something negative then we will only see a negative self. Same goes with positive experiences; if you experience something positive or if you are told something positive then you will see a positive self.…

My personal experience and take away from English 111 was what I expected it would be before I started the course. No, there was no “life changing” moment for me from this course and I honestly I can’t say I am a better or worse citizen for taking this class, but I can say my writing skills have improved, and that I feel more confident in my writing than prior to taking this course. Writing has and continues to be a challenge for me, I have no illusion that I will ever be a “perfect” or even a “good” writer for that matter, but because some of things I learned in how to prepare and to write an essay I feel I’m a much improved writer. Specifically the topics covered from the first module of this course help my development.…
