When I read this sentence, I can’t stop thinking about the conversation between Tom Shadyac and Daniel. I remember that Daniel expressed her disappointment and inability when her friends couldn’t “do the right thing”(I can’t remember the correct sentence), she asked Tom if he had some advice that can help her change her friends. Tom’s response was so thought-provoking, he told Daniel, “Don’t judge people, don’t try to control people’s mind.” That’s correct, controlling others is impossible and dangerous, judging people indicates that you treat yourself are on a higher-level than the other. Furthermore, when we are trying to change the other people, we are violating the principle of freedom and equality in certain degree. I realized that some of my behaviors were inappropriate as well, perhaps I have empathy and goodness when my friends come to me for help, but I cannot actually force them to follow my advice, the only thing I can do is showing myself to them and making effort to stand on their
