Finally Frank Rudy from NASA brought in a new creation. NASA not only helped advance themselves, but helped develop one of the first air cushioned running shoes. NASA brought in the idea of using small bags filled with pressurized gas that would be used to absorb shock on the foot while also cushioning the foot providing comfort. These air cushioned running shoes are still being used today. Every casual running shoe in Wreckshop Rob’s article “The Evolution of Athletic Shoe (Graphic)”, is constructed with a complex structure of “rubber” with plastic or metal stiffeners to restrict foot movement. More advanced runners, or sprinters tend to wear flatter, more flexible shoes to allow them to run faster, also with greater comfort.
