Similarities Between Birds And Dinosaurs

Register to read the introduction… There is very strong evidence to suggest that dinosaurs evolved into birds, but yet again there are many doubters of this theory. A very noticeable physical feature on both birds and some prehistoric dinosaurs is that they both have three toes on their foot going forward and one toe going back. This is an unusual feature that draws immediate attention to their physical similarities. Another likeness between birds and some dinosaurs is that each has a claw coming off of each one of their toes. Also, it cannot be overlooked that both birds and dinosaurs also have a wishbone right between their shoulder blades. This skeletal similarity is unusual and strongly supports a relationship between the species. Yet another noteworthy comparison between birds and dinosaurs is their very comparable bone structure. If one looked at the bone structure of their necks, one would notice that they both of their necks are very thin and are curved like an “s”. This further suggests a physical commonality between the species. One of the more compelling reasons to believe that this theory is true is that when examining the brain of a tyrannosaurus rex, it has very large olfactory lobes, which indicates that it had a very good sense of smell. Some birds, including turkey vultures, kiwi birds, and tubed nose sea birds, also have large olfactory lobes and a very good sense of smell. For all those reasons it makes good scientific sense to question the physical relationship that exists between birds and dinosaurs. If one accepts Darwin’s Theory of Evolution then it is reasonable to question whether or not dinosaurs ever truly went extinct. Instead it could be possible that dinosaurs evolved over time into birds. Instead of seeing dinosaurs as a separate species which went extinct, one might think of dinosaurs as the genetic ancestors to birds. Considering all of the physical similarities that …show more content…
For example, scientists have clearly observed that some insects have evolved over time in order to adapt to their environment, therefore increasing their chances of survival. For instance, when an insecticide is released into an insect population within a home, as soon as the poison reaches the bugs, most will die. The select few that survive the insecticide have shown a remarkable ability to genetically change in order to better protect itself against the insecticide meant to kill it. This lucky group of insects will continue to reproduce offspring and then their offspring’s offspring will reproduce more offspring and the cycle will continue with each generation better able to defend itself against the insecticide. Eventually there will be a greater percentage of the insects that are immune to the insecticide then there will be of insects that will die from the insecticide. This demonstrates Darwin’s Theory of Natural Selection, in which an organism that is better adapted to a certain environment will live longer and reproduce better and have healthier offspring than an organism which fails to adapt to its environment. Along the same line of reasoning, many people are interested in selective breeding. This is basically a form of evolution that humans create. By definition, selective breeding is when man chooses certain organisms to mate in order to produce off spring that will have desirable traits. This most commonly happens when humans choose two dog breeds to mate so that their puppies have attractive traits. When this happens hybrid breeds are formed such as the golden doodle, which is the puppy of a golden retriever and a poodle, and over time and after several generations of mixed breeding the new breed will be formally

After years of debate, scientists now know that dinosaurs were the ancestors of birds, not reptiles. Dr Jakob, along with scores of other palaeontologists, have confirmed that dinosaurs as large as T. rex were covered in feathers rather than scales. " Velociraptors featured quite heavily in the film. We know that there's not a single inch of a velociraptor's body, apart from nails and claws, that wasn't covered in…

New species of these dinosaurs had become more important. The most famous dinosaur of all, the Tyrannosaurus rex, finally came along during the end of the Mesozoic Era. It walked on two legs so it is a theropod. All theropods were carnivorous. Sea animals and life in the sea was very like how it was in the Jurassic period.…

Stacy Gomez Biology 2 Mrs. Netri 6 June 2015 Gattaca: The Message of the Future After watching the movie Gattaca, it brought to reasoning that there were different ways of selection in every living organism. Gattaca is about a guy, Vincent Freeman, who is born and they detect that disorders will occur in his 30 years of living. His younger brother, Anton Freeman, is given the “good” genes by a process called artificial selection. Artificial selection is a process done by man, where they close the mating process and the traits that go along with it are chosen.…

Going back to the title the dinosaur can be a symbol of extinction or bringing the past into the present. However, the author wants the audience to see how the dinosaur means clutching onto big childhood aspirations. Furthermore, hugging it tight and protecting it so it does not become extinct and just something one reads about in the past. The audience can see that black boy holding the gun as if he has no time for dreams and therefore cannot worry about those kinds of thing. In the line where the author writes, “no one kills the black boy.…

Introduction Charles Darwin is famous for his book, The Origin of Species, where he proposed that evolutionary change in populations is due to natural selection. His idea was that of survival of the fittest. In other words, the species with superior traits would have more of a likelihood to live, and then breed more offspring. Slowly, more and more of the species with the superior traits will survive and multiply. But what is it that gives these species the better survival trait, and allows evolution to occur?…

I strongly concur that the main reason why the dinosaurs became extinct was because some kind of disaster occurred. I agree with the disaster theory because, if you really think about it, a disaster is the only logical theory that makes sense as to why the dinosaurs vanished from earth. In addition, there have been several studies to prove that disasters are what caused the dinosaurs to become…

Evolution is the change in allele frequency in a population over time or, more simply, the process by which populations of organisms change over time (helped by the process of natural selection). Artificial selection does support this theory, except that the evolution happens intentionally, instead of naturally. Due to random mutations, variation within a population exists, allowing certain characteristics/genes to be selected as more favorable than others. Therefore, humans breed organisms with the favorable characteristics together to have offspring that might have the same characteristic. To do this, the characteristic has to have heritable genes so that the parent can pass the genes over to the offspring and increase the chance for survival in future generations, not just the individual (parent).…

Natural Selection is the random decision of choosing what traits are being kept and reproduced and what is being eliminated. For example, some birds choose whether they want to eat green beetles or yellow beetles. Based on the bird's decision depends if the beetles survive or have to move to a different environment. If the bird only likes to eat yellow beetles soon there will no longer be yellow beetles, there will only be green beetles left. This is the cause of natural selection because the bird randomly picks what food they wants to eat.…

What is natural selection According to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_selection Wikipedia, “ Natural selection is the gradual process by which heritable biological traits become either more or less common in a population as a function of the effect of inherited traits on the differential reproductive success of organisms interacting with their environment. It is a key mechanism of evolution.” In simple terms natural selection is the creation of slightly differing species within a population being tested on their survival success by nature itself. Examples of when natural selection worked Galápagos finches adapt to their environment.…

Writing Assignment #1 Lasiognathus dinema There are a couple misconceptions you might have about evolution and natural selection. The strongest and most important organisms do not survive over the generations. Although evolution occurs due to fitness in an individual or individuals of a species, an organism cannot survive over generations. Fitness is achieved through variations in populations of species through genetic differentiation (Scottville “n.d.”). Since the life cycle of all living organisms is to be born, survive, mate, and die, it is impossible for an organism to live through several generations.…

In the essay, “Evolution as Fact and Theory,” Stephen Gould defenses Charles Darwin’s theory of Evolution over the beliefs of creationist on God creating all organisms in the world. To further his support, he states his three arguments which are observational evidence, the imperfection of nature, and transitions found in fossil records to demonstrate that even though evolution is just a theory, there are plentiful evidence of facts that supports it. The essay was not just about justifying the theory of evolution to the creationist but also to reject the ideas of blindfolded views on scientific creationism. Throughout the essay, Gould acknowledges many of the major perspectives of the scientific world to support the theory of evolution that…
