Tobacco was the first plant that was ever grown in America, according to__ . Tobacco helped pay for the American revolution, as it was a very popular plant, the demand of it was very high. In 1881 cigarette smoking became widespread, thanks to James Bonsack who created a cigarette machine that can make 120,000 cigarettes a day. Back then they use to allow people to smoke wherever they wanted to. Typically during that time, restaurants and even hotels had smoking and non-smoking sides. By the 1980’s, the government finally took action and made a law stating that you can’t smoke in public places. As the above statement says that teenagers tend to get more scared knowing the physical outcome. By putting pictures of what smoking can do to not only the outside look, but the inside look of smoking on social media can reduce the amount of smokers in our generation. Reducing the amount of people who smoke will reduce the risk of cancer that’s caused by tobacco. The reason why we are trying to target teenagers is because the rate in Licking County has gone up by ten percent in the past five years. It did more damage than good, it caused lung cancer, mouth cancer,renal failure, and made them age twice as fast. This topic made it easy for me because if I could help change one person 's view on cigarettes and educate them, whether it being through pictures or general knowledge, and have them either quit smoking, or have them not smoke will be a big success.
