The Beatles, one of the most famous and influential bands of all time, was formed in 1960. The original four were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Pete Best. They started touring in August 1960 in Hamburg, Germany played at least five and an half hour every night. In 1962, they met Brian Epstein and Epstein was impressed with the music The Beatles were making. As a result, The Beatles hired Epstein as their manager. Later in their career, in May 1962, The Beatles met George Martin, who was unimpressed with the music and complained about Best’s drumming but signed them conditionally. The Beatles decided to replace Pete Best with Ringo Starr, who became the drummer for the rest of Beatles career. Please Please Me was the first album The Beatles released and reached number one and stayed for thirty weeks. This foreshadows how The Beatles became the best Rock and Roll band in history. From here on now, all of the albums were great success and some significant ones are A Hard Day’s Night, Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Abbey Road. A Hard Day’s Night was released as an album and a movie in July, 1964, which was the first movie that The Beatles performed and it was a success. Both songs contain Indian influences; for instance, “Norwegian Wood” is the first song used an Indian instrument: Sitar. “Within You Without You” is known as an authentic Indian ensemble, it consists sitar, dilruba, tabla, suvar mandal and tambura.
