Statistics consistently show that there is higher crime rates in lower income areas then wealthier suburbs but the higher crime rate may not be the actual reason for criminal behavior in low income areas. Police tend to focus on the low-income areas where they assume is more crime leading to more arrest. Theorists Robert Sampson and William Julius Wilson in 2005 argued that factors that cause an area to become economically and socially disadvantage encourages criminal activity. In the upper class privileged communities white collar crimes (fraud, embezzlement, or insider trading) take place but are rarely spoken of. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigations 2011 chart of violent crimes such as rape, murder, aggravated assault, and robbery shows that these crimes were committed at a higher level in 1992 and lower level in 2011 with the months of July and August being dubbed as the highest peak time for violent crimes. Criminologist have shown that the relationship between age and crime remained stable since 1935. Murder, gun violence, bullying, and domestic violence has introduced themselves to me uninvitingly and indirectly. Being on both ends of a domestic violence situation that ended in death where the love for both individuals had my family and I living in turmoil and conflicting feelings for over a year. Having one overprotected child took its toll on each of them when their shielded child became victim to the streets and the parents place blame on each other while child was failing in school and free to roam the street. The father became completely shut out and withdrawn from the mother it all ended in the father losing his mind and picking up a gun and unjustly taking the mothers’ life. The daughter is now living in a low-income community, pregnant and surrounded by gun violence almost on a daily basis but this time alone. Bullying has affected my life through my niece. Ever since she was in third grade and still now she has been bullied. She began to eating (Galilee, 2012) (Kerry Ferris, 2014, 2012, 2010, 2008) (Advancementprojectca.org, 2010-2012)excessively and buying her friendship while in elementary school. The bullying continued on to middle school being harsher and she became withdrawn from her peers and family members. The bullying, low self-esteem and excessive eating brought on many forms of medical issues. My sister and her husband are currently trying to rectify the
