Public speaking can be very hard for some people, and it can make a huge first impression. In the book An Essential Guide to Public Speaking by Quentin Schultze it goes deeper than just talking to a regular audience. It talks about being a Christian and handling public speaking. This is a great book to learn about how to be a public speaker and a Christian but not to lose your audience by talking too much about God or not enough. During ENG 1020, we completed many assignments focusing on the three main goals of this course, teach students about different styles of rhetorical situation, learn about the different genres of reading, research, and writing, and to teach students to develop analyses and arguments using research-based content, effective organizations, and appropriate expression and mechanics. Throughout this course, I have learned how to search and specifically find appropriate sources using the CRAAP test, identify proper characteristics of a rhetorical piece, and be able to reflect on my own writing by completing multiple drafts. These experiences allowed me to improve my persuasion techniques, my ability to find reliable information, and editing skills.…

    1. The first issue with this analysis is the lack of supportive evidence. Since an analysis evaluates one source in depth, the author should have had more detailed recounts of the evidence he is trying to use to support his thesis. Much of the evidence that was used refers to nonspecific points in the plot, such as: “Michael’s delegation of the task of finding healthcare starts the unproductive process as he was primarily responsible for that task” (Smith, para. 4). The next issue is the lack of citations.…

As one of the universal applications, personal freedom-a human right-should not be interpreted culturally or contextually(Franck, 593). For example, China’s Fundamental Rights and Duties of Citizens claims to protect many civil liberties. The U.S. constitution, especially the Fourteenth Amendment, protects civil rights by introducing a series of clauses. Hence, ideally, citizens should enjoy freedom from forced disappearance, freedom from torture, and also the right to security, privacy…

A Rhetorical Analysis of “From The Ground Up” Introduction “From the Ground Up”, by Dan and Shay, is one of my favorite love songs. In this paper, it will address the following question: What are the implications for “From the Ground Up” when analyzed through Aristotle’s rhetorical proofs and Stephen E. Toulmin’s three types of claims. “From the Ground Up”, a song by Dan and Shay, was written at an emotional time. Dan’s grandfather passed away, and Shay’s was in the hospital. There were also multiple revisions needed for my rhetorical analysis. Similar to my playlist profile, I had issues with grammar and proper MLA format, so I focused in on those micro revisions. However, I dealt with some more major problems within my paper as well. You commented that in my introduction I did not have a forecasting statement, so that was added to the paper. For the section that was titled tone, style, and emotional appeal, you made the comment that I did not discuss the actual emotional appeal or tone enough, and merely explained the purpose of the article.…

Since 1969, America has seen an extensive range of presidents in terms of style, personality, rhetoric and overall demeanor towards the American people. A good deal of these qualities overlap in candidates who have won the election. For example most president-elects have said they have strong family values, support a strong American military, and promise to be tough on crime. While these stances have been pitched differently over the years, they all share the same basic ethos; reassurance. It seems that the American electorate respond best to candidates who continually reassure the American people of the inevitability of America thriving under that particular leader’s guidance.…

The learning experience that I have chosen to discuss about is preparing for the poster presentations. During this experience, I had to identify and explain the benefits and challenges of inter- professional practice. This was the question that me and my group were given, and we had to deliver it in a presentation format to an audience, which was my class. To go about doing this, I had use and deliver a range of skills and apply it to practice in order to prepare for the presentation. According to Kolb’s Experimental Learning Cycle, (1984), it articulates in the first stage about concrete experience, where me and my group were assigned a task, which consisted of active involvement.…
