The Internet: The Negative Impacts Of The Internet

Ever since the start of time, humans are always trying to discover some sort of new advancement in technology with the intent to make their everyday lives easier. It is all because of the innovative quality human beings exhibit that has allowed them to evolve and raise their standards of living. With the 21st century comes the age of the internet that allows access to an infinite amount of information from databases promoting people with a computer and access to the internet to see and learn anything they want. In the year 2009, approximately 75.1% of the Canadian population uses the internet at least once a day. Ultimately, I do not agree with Carr’s thesis that the internet is negatively affecting the world. The reason is that with the internet comes a vast amount of information that I have unlimited access to anytime, anywhere as long as I have a connection and a device capable to browse the internet. Compared to some of my family members where in the past they had to go to the library and spend hours to conduct the research for their assignments, I can now complete the same amount of research in a fraction of the time it took them to complete with the help of the internet. When they had to flip through page after page just to find bits and pieces of information, I can simply search up the topic that I need information about on the internet and within a second I have several pages of links to already condensed information. All the information that I need is practically spoon fed to me. This in turn speeds up the process and allowing me to move on to other work that needs to be completed. Overall, the internet has given me the opportunity to speed past my work, while still allowing me to maintain the same quality; this in turn allows me to be more effective and
