Influence Of A Teacher In My Life

Decent Essays
How influential were teachers in your life? I bet many teachers come to mind. Teachers change our lives. Teachers can influence us in so many ways, either positive or negative. We look to our teachers for guidance and encouragement. But not all teachers are ideal. The old women with gnarly, knotted hands looked at me. I turned around in my desk, hiding my glaring hate, angry the teacher’s assistant even glanced my way. I hated her. I remembered the wrinkly old women grabbing my hands with her gruesome fingers holding tightly and pressing into my skin. She had tightly curled, gray hair, glasses and was slightly plump. She could be anyone 's sweet grandma, but I knew better, she was cruel. Rachel is embarrassed, hurt and betrayed …show more content…

A teacher’s behavior and actions are taken to heart by a child. There are many teachers that have impacted my life as a child as well as in my adult life. I always wondered if I was the only victim to succumb to her harsh treatment. I never told anyone about the teacher assistant at the time. Who would really believe me and I felt like she was an authority figure and knew more than me. I didn’t know how teachers are suppose to treat children and how they are suppose to behave. Having my own daughter in school makes me examine her teachers under a microscope because teachers spend so much time with our children we have to make sure that we feel confident they will not only learn in the class, but they also learn about how adults should behave and how they should treat

After last week’s writing, I found myself in quite a fog of insecurity. Thankfully the most recent installment of YITE brought me back to the sunny side of teaching philosophy. Reading about the art of teaching was rather inspiring even. The quote from the text, “approaching instruction in a variety of ways to provide multiple paths for students to both learn the content and develop the skills of the curriculum is artistry (pg 147),” caught my attention. Often in my life I have gotten the impression that some people consider the position of a teacher as that of merely a figurehead, an adult to put in front of a group of kids to keep them occupied.…

As an educator I have a passion for developing best practices in early childhood, as I am a firm believer that children need to get the best developmental start they can at school. Looking back over the past five years of teaching I have been fortunate enough to have been involved in several different training and development opportunities. This has included Deslea Konza, Teacher mentoring, continuity of learning project and developing inquiry and play based learning. Education Majors Teachers have the ability to educate, challenge, and expand the minds of children who will shape and refine the world’s future. They inspire students to become scientists who may discover a cure for cancer, doctors that will save lives, or athletes who will break records. Children depend on teachers to provide them with every opportunity to become great, which is why earning a teaching certificate should not be an easy process. Today, one has to pass the Praxis test, obtain a 3.0 GPA, and complete the assigned college courses to earn a teaching certificate. Due to these simple requirements, unqualified college graduates are becoming ineffective teachers that are failing to assist their students in the right direction.…

Most people imagine a teacher as someone who is in their late 30’s or older teaching in a classroom. Many lessons are taught in the classroom, but many more lessons are taught outside of the classroom. My cousin Keisha and her daughter, KaLeiah, have been the greatest teachers I ever have had in my life. KaLeiah is a three-year old, a tall, lean, energetic little girl with beautiful light brown skin, just like her mother. She has dark black afro hair, and mix of shades of brown eyes, which has filled me with the will to open my heart and mind to the world.…

On Tuesday, October 20, 2015, I observed a fourth-grade class at Media Elementary School in Media, PA. The teacher was Mrs. Williamsons, and there was also a student teacher, Emily in the class. I was there most of the day and observed Mathematics, Social studies, Reading, and Writing class. The set-up of the room was traditional 3 wide rows facing the board so that everyone is closer to the board. Also, there was a sitting area with a rug and that was closer to the electronic board, where students sat for watching any videos for the class, and during the Reading class.…

Teachers are among the most important people in society today. Teachers help shape the minds of the future. Tomorrow 's engineers, scientists, politicians, and educators are all greatly influenced by today 's instructors. Without teachers society would not be anywhere near where it is now and only a select few would have access to learning. Sadly, however important teachers are in civilization, they are still drastically underappreciated, underrecognized and underpaid.…

The first day I observed at Clay High School, I knew that the learning environment would be hostile. The day happened to be the end of the third quarter and reports were being sent home. This meant that my clinical teacher felt the need to have students review their grades. He printed out everyone’s gradebook records, and had the students check and review their term grades. What I didn’t expect was for him to randomly call on students and share their grades.…
