Executive Summary

When employees are unable to communicate effectively with management or other co-workers low morale can set in. The lack of communication within the store leads to employees being misinformed and confused about the changes to policies and procedures and then rumors tend to spread.
The lack of communication issue within the store can be resolved if management begin to create open lines of positive communication with the associates. Positive communication between management and employees can lead to positive relationships. Management also needs to be as open and honest as possible with the associates about the changes that are or will be occurring within the store and company. Another way that employees can express their concerns and opinion would be to offer an anonymous suggestion box. Employees can use the suggestion box to offer their opinions about certain issues that are currently occurring in the store that the management team is oblivious about. By offering the suggestion box employees can communicate to management what they feel they cannot say in person because they may be afraid of some sort of retaliation. The employees can also use the suggestion box to offer suggestions about different events that are going to take place in the store. Associates like to feel that their hard work and dedication to the job is not going unnoticed. Employees needs to know that their contribution has help the company succeed. So when associates are not being recognized with simple gestures of gratitude such as “thank You” or a pat on the back for a job well done they start to feel unappreciated and unvalued. When employees start to feel unappreciated they become unproductive, disengaged and no longer want to go the extra mile for the company.
To resolve the lack of recognition that the employees are feeling, the management team can create a praise board that reflects the associates great customer service and hard work to the other associates. The management team can start sending out “Thank You” and “Job Well Done” emails to or it can be announced in the morning meetings to express their appreciation for the associates that go above and beyond for the customers and/or company. Also, the management team can create some sort of incentive program for great job performance that will encourage associates to always give their best and they will be rewarded. The management team can create another group that will assist in the recognition and decide which accomplishments should be recognized. For example, birthdays, length of service, reaching team sales goals or obtaining a certain amount of credit applications. Once it
