In recent decades we have come to the point where we just see the car as a normality; an everyday part of life, but little do we ever look back to where it all started. The automobile, defined as a vehicle with an engine which is used for carrying passengers on roads, has come a long way since it was conceived in the late 1800’s. This model had three bicycle-like wheels and seated 2 people. With one cylinder under the engine, or rather the seat, this car produced 0.75 horsepower. In 1888 Mr. Benz’s wife Bertha and her two sons Eugen and Richard went on what was deemed to be the first long distance car trip. The trio traveled 180km which included the return trip. In 1930, the very first car stereo came out. This was revolutionary to people because now they could tune in to their favourite channels all from within their car. The Galvin Brothers, founders of Galvin Manufacturing Co. were the innovators behind the in-car radio. Pricing their stereo at a really high price of one hundred and thirty dollars, in comparison to the Ford Model-A Deluxe which was priced at five hundred and thirteen dollars seemed like something very extravagant to do at the time and even today.
