Millennials, also known as generation Y, were born between the mid 1980’s to the 2000’s. This is the largest generation so far, as well as the most diverse in the United States population. According to the Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, “more than one-in-three American workers today are Millennials (adults ages 18 to 34 in 2015) and this year they surpassed Generation X to become the largest share of the American workforce” (Fry). They have grown up with it, and use it on an everyday basis. Older generations feel that this new age of technology is running people’s lives and feel that it’s making this generation dumber. I disagree with this and think there are so many helpful uses for technology and the internet, and many ways people can use it for beneficial reasons. Technology can allow people to find out information readily at their fingertips, use it to help with transportation, shopping, banking, and especially use it for communication. According to a study done by PewResearchCenter it says “Three quarters of Millennials have created a profile on a social networking site, compared with half of Xers, 30% of Boomers and 6% of Silents” (Kahn). Social media is one of the top ways to stay connected with family, friends, and is now used for communication with people from the workplace. Not only are technology/ social media valuable for people’s everyday needs, but it also beneficial for companies and running a business. LinkedIn is a social networking website specifically used for the business world. It is used for people to stay connected with their peers from work, and a resource for people to put themselves out there to get noticed by companies and potentially get a job. This has been an extremely useful tool for many companies and employees. Many millennials use LinkedIn. According to a study done by SocialTimes, it says “There are some 2 billion …show more content…
They are changing the way businesses run in many ways and for the better by using their skills and coming up with new ideas. With technology being such a big part of their lives, they are able to use it in more resourceful ways than previous generation who may not know how to use it that well. Millennials are cooperative and work well with others of diverse backgrounds. This generation wants to be successful and achieve their goals while doing something they enjoy and love. With millennials being the largest generation, they are becoming the majority of the workforce. There are many benefits of having millennials on the job and previous generation should recognize and applaud them rather than look down or bash them.

Your claim that the CNN poll “excluded millennials” is not accurate. The poll interviewed and asked the same questions to the millennials, however they excluded the results of their subgroups in the age demographic section because its sampling error was larger than +/- 8.5. A sampling error is defined by a statistical error caused by under representation. Therefore, to put N/A does not signify the millennials did not contribute to the data collected, instead that the results would not be an accurate representation of the age group. It states in the CNN poll, “Some subgroups represent too small a share of the national population to produce crosstabs with an acceptable sampling error.…
