Management and Leadership
Management and Leadership are the two functional areas of business that interest me and bring me back to school to earn my MBA today. These two functional areas of business interest me because I have the experience and the knowledge it takes to be manager and leader at my current employer. I am here to enhance my knowledge and learn new styles of management that can benefit my future, make me a stronger manager, and a leader at my current job location.

I remember a great motivator that I always admired growing up and still admire the man today.” Leaders are not born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that’s the price we will have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goals (Vince Lombardi).” Being a leader takes hard work, by leading by example the hard work a leader shows will influence their employees to work just as hard or even harder to achieve and accomplish company goals. Leaders also help out at the work place with conflicts and change. In the past I have seen that change in organization causes concerns for employees. Change is difficult, but a good leader knows how to show change as a positive within an organization. Here is another quote I found to be interesting: “Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions (Harold S. Geneen).” Attitude and actions speak loader than words according to Harold S. Geneen. Being in management you must exemplify your leadership skills with your actions. Employees in an organization look up to the leadership role to follow the actions set by management in order to achieve company goals.
In conclusion, Management and Leadership are the two functional areas that interest me. I plan to follow through as solid leader enhancing all of my management skill levels by using the tools here at The University of Phoenix. Those skills are motivation, leading, managing, good decision making,
