Reflection Report on Columbus State University Instructors Both of the professors observed were very organized in their teaching style. They both started class with a brief run-down of any assignments that were due and tests coming up. The professors did not simply lecture the students, but engaged them by asking questions, writing notes on the board, and issuing activities for the students to complete. Both professors spoke clearly and explained concepts that might have been more difficult to understand. Also, students in both classes were encouraged to discuss material amongst themselves. When answering any questions, the professors were not patronizing and tried to answer questions as efficiently as possible so that the student did not …show more content…
First, I should teach the material in a way that I know I’m comfortable with, in the sense that I’m teaching in a way I think is clear, while also conforming to each students needs and learning styles. Second, I need to make sure that the content I am teaching will be relevant in both the students’ future education, career, and life. Third, I should find a subject that I feel passionate about teaching, so that my enthusiasm for the material will spark the curiosity of the students and motivate them. Fourth, I should pose questions for my students to ponder over that relate to the material being studied so as to help them learn how to analyze information and connect it to what they already know. Fifth, I should give my students assignments in which they must think critically about the information and apply it to real-life situations and ideas that they have already encountered, such as term papers or essay tests. Last, I need to learn to evaluate my students and give them the opportunity to learn from their mistakes and encourage them to keep striving for answers rather than simply giving them a grade and expecting them to know why they got that

I am currently a senior in the Helms School of Government at Liberty University. I found out about your Global Internship Program through Dr. Cox who teaches my Corrections class. After doing research on your website I was very impressed. Being able to practice the skills that I have learned over the years such as government relations and disaster response, while implementing my Christian worldview in serving others would be an amazing experience. I would be a great addition to your team because of my past experience with serving on mission’s trips, living in a foreign country for a year and a half, and being on Liberty University’s student leadership team.…

I agree that as teachers should have “a thorough knowledge of what we teach, the ability to interpret such knowledge authentically, and the skill to communicate effectively” (Brummelen, 2009) It is very important that we know and understand the material ourselves, but the act of teaching it to our students goes way beyond our knowledge. Our job does not simply consist of relaying information about our subject, but conveying that knowledge in a way that will stimulate a deeper learning.…

I recently observed two elementary school classrooms. At Elmdale Elementary, I observed Mrs. Earp’s first grade class and at George Elementary, I observed Mrs. Clay’s fifth grade class. There were many similarities found in classroom management, however, each teacher possessed different teaching methods. Between both observations, I was introduced to several effective teaching skills, as well as methods that were shown to be ineffective. At Elmdale Elementary, I observed Mrs. Earp’s first grade class.…

Throughout my observation time spent at Reese Elementary, I have had the opportunity to observe two teachers, Mrs. Church, who is a second-grade teacher, and Mr. Dohrmann, who is a fifth-grade teacher. The teachers teach different grade levels and have very different teaching styles which lead to differences in classroom management and assessment, as well as, other categories. Even though there are many differences between Mrs. Church and Mr. Dohrmann they also have many similarities, such as the way they handle discipline and motivation. During my observation hours in both classrooms, I noticed the classroom management procedures that both teachers use. Both teachers have a class schedule they go by to keep the students and themselves on task throughout the day.…

On May 20, 2016, my adviser and I sat down to have a discussion about the university required courses and courses that was mandatory for the Liberal Arts college. English 101 was one of the classes I chose to take my first semester because I knew I had more knowledge on writing efficient papers because of my previous AP English courses in high school. In high school, I was always told that I was an adequate writer because I knew the basic of connecting ideas that provided a clear concrete understanding. However, the only time I received an unsatisfactory score was when the information I included in my paper was unorganized. Also, another reason I chose to take English my first semester instead of my second semester was because I knew I needed…

As I came to college, my family and I anticipated I would be following a simple mold of a conscientious student. One that is highly focused in some limited number of long term goals. Don 't get me wrong, this only meant that I had high expectations out of my college education. For some people, this path leads them to great success. But, I slowly realized my vision of success needed to have stories from different roads and bridges, than just one simple path.…

Final Summative Reflection What assignments/topics created the greatest impression on you in a positive manner? Explain The lesson that created the most impact in a positive manner was the family staff relationships, and virtual field experience. As a future teacher we need to learn to have effective communication with not only other staff members but also with the parents of the children in our classrooms. In currently working in a school setting it gave me better tools to be more effective when having conversations with parents or other staff members.…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…

My Classroom Management Philosophy I believe that classroom management plays a major role in creating a successful classroom. A successful classroom must be a safe learning environment, offer positive encouragement to encourage students to make the right choices, set rules that are understood by the students, and creating responsible students who can take control over their own work. This type of classroom is a major goal of mine because I feel as though the students would really benefit. I am committed to creating a safe environment and creating positive reinforcement within my classroom.…

Final Exam: 1. The quote, “Classroom management is 90% of the job. The remaining 90% is delivery of instruction,” means to me that good classroom management is needed, but you need to teach the students so they can connect to the science they are learning about. The room should be arranged nicely and clear, specific rules should be in place for the daily routine and housekeeping of the class. As their teacher, I should have high expectations and plan accordingly.…
