Symbolism hiding behind words The deeper people searches in the ocean the more things are found. Each word has a mystery story behind but in order to find it first take a look a little bit closer. In this case every word symbolizes something in order to represent specific ideas or give qualities to those words. In ¨The Fairy¨, by Robert Louis Stevenson uses the words poor, diamonds and gift to symbolize nobility. Symbols are also used for a purpose. Generally, it is an object representing another, to give an entirely different meaning that is much deeper and more significant. For example, as stated in ¨The Fairy¨, ¨The poor creature told her plainly all had happen´d, not without dropping out of her mouth an infinite number of diamonds¨ the author is using the word poor to give nobility qualities to the character. Because as the story goes the young daughter is described as beautiful and kindness, whom in this case is represented as poor for being sweetness and mistreated from her family. Words has different meanings depending in which sentence they are placed. And also what the author is trying to reflect from that word. For example, the word poor means someone with low economy recourses but in this case the author is referring the word poor to someone that is noble and innocent.
