Art is a term that cannot be defined incorrectly, art can have many definitions but some will be better than others. Art plays an important role in many people lives, it motivates the human brain by making people react with their emotions. It also provides many people with source of creation and self-expression. Art is very subjective and it has a different meaning to many people, but it is also at a continuous state of change. A way that art can be defined is through form and content (Wollheim, Art). The elements of art, the materials used by an artist to create a work of art and the foundation of design are commonly referred to as form. Her paintings were always known to be very large often taking a whole wall or room. Walker depicted racial stereotype with amplified representations of sambos, pick ninnies and mammies assisted with southern bells and gentlemen partaking in acts of violence, bullying and sex. One of her paintings known as Consume created in 1998 with the use of silhouettes attracted viewers with a courteous, delicate and feminine veneer. Walker resembled the method of silhouettes to the nature of stereotypes themselves, in which the complications of a person or situation are lessened and simplified into easily identifiable forms Chou, Walker, Kara). All figures in the work Consume were illustrated in black or in shadows. Art cannot be defined incorrectly because it is infinitely indescribable and it is formed from a person’s thought on what creativity is. An artist’s work is composed by the elements of art that is line, shape, color, and value, which is used by the viewer to summarize the work and form their thought. Form and content are other aspects that create art and make it very understandable. Form can be best described as what a work is composed of and content is the message that the artist convey through their work and how the viewer respond to it. Art is used or noticed in everyone’s daily life whether it through music, graffiti on a wall, or watching an animated television show it is an aspect of art. Art is not only used to convey a message to society or its viewers, it is also used as a way for people to express themselves. Art originated many years ago by the Greeks and Roman and quickly emerged in to modern art becoming more varied with the use of different materials and the introduction of female artist known as “Women Art”. Many women were not recognized by historians for their work and what they provided to the world of art because their work were not considered to be part important as other historians.
