Early Childhood Personalities

Early Childhood Education seems to be the major a lot of college students pursue in. However, being a teacher comes along with many duties and expectations. For example, teachers have to make lesson plans, go by their state’s standards, make sure every need of every child is met, and prepare each child for the next grade. Teachers are expected to perform to their highest abilities, be on time, and interact with the kids. Being a teacher is not all that simple like most people believe. In each school system, the teachers have to interact with other faculty members in group level meetings, faculty meetings, and planning time with the teachers in his or her specific grade level. There are a wide range of personalities throughout the faculty and students in a school system. Both extroverts and introverts could succeed well as teachers, but extroverts are more likely to do better at this occupation because they are more outgoing. Introverts just have to push themselves beyond their shell in order to teach effectively. Being a teacher involves a person to not be shy when meeting student’s parents, therefore, extroverts are more likely to succeed. For example, teachers deal with both rude and nice parents and extroverts are people who are able to keep their composure in situations rather they be good or bad. Being able to keep your composure is a key factor in a person’s personality and a good skill to have as a teacher. In early childhood education teachers have to interact with the kids in a playful way, unlike secondary education where teachers are more strict. Also, teachers have to be able to come to an agreement when in faculty meetings, in order to keep the school year going smoothly and effectively. Being aware of everyone’s personality that you work with is important because knowing someone and how they act makes the school year go by smoother. Also, psychology can help a teacher be able to manage time and stress by being able to handle certain situations with angry parents. There are certain aspects of psychology that can help a teacher be a successful and effective one such as, reinforcements and punishments. An authoritative teaching style needs to be used in every school system to develop the students to be the best behaved. I have learned that empathy is our ability to understand the feelings of someone else. Also, empathy is the way to be able to see someone else’s perspective. This tends to be a women’s strength, because women tend to understand feelings and are strong in social relationships. For example, we see more female teachers than males.
