The secret in Shelley’s novel is of shame and fear. Victor did not want to reveal the falsehood and the mistakes that was in the novel. He is the author of his owns fate. Many of the Gothic subgenres sets the mood to be gloomy and dark. Most of gothic places on towers, castles, and old buildings. Revenge seems to be an element in Frankenstein. Victor becomes very scared after he sees what he has brought to life, and flees. The creature is all alone and out on his own, but he starts to learn from a family that he has been watching (Shelley 99). He finds courage to approach them, but the family does not accept him because of him being different. After this the creature seeks for revenge. When the creature killed William, Victors younger brother, the creature was out to ruin Victors whole life from there on out. The creature went from framing Justine for the murder of William, killing Henry Clerval, and then he goes after Victor’s weakness which is Elizabeth. Another element is supernatural. It is when the lighting Frankenstein uses to create the monster.
