The Pros And Cons Of Weight Loss Diets

Do you ever wonder what the best weight loss plans are? Have you tried so many ways to diet with little or no success? I know I have. The best diet plan for me was the low carb diet. I personally struggled with my weight since I hit my teen years. I have never been obese, but I have always had to watch what I eat and be careful as to how much I eat, out of fear of gaining weight. When I was in my early twenties I had someone close to me introduce me to low carb dieting. This was the best thing that could have happened to me. I learned that I could diet and lose weight without going hungry. I learned that I could change what I was eating without necessarily changing how much. For me, this was the answer to my problems. I successfully lost over thirty pounds by strictly sticking to a low carb diet.
The core reading, I have chosen for my summary and response paper is an article written by John P. Foreyt entitled “Weight Loss Diets: Are They All The Same?”. In his article Foreyt talks

According to page one of “Weight Loss Diets: Are They All The Same?” in paragraph two it talks about how 68% of adult American people are either overweight or obese. He goes on to say that the food industry has created a multimillion dollar business out of Weight Loss oriented foods. The main idea of Foreyt’s article is to compare low carb diets and low-fat diets: how they work and how they are different, and these two diets do work very different. On page two of Foreyt’s article, when he speaks on Low Carbohydrate diets he talks about the carb intake being cut back to 20 to 60 grams per day. Foods that are high in starch and sugar such as white rice, potatoes, bread and pasta are cut out in low carb dieting and are replaced with foods that are high in protein such as meat, nuts and some dairy products.
