Money and power go hand in hand, and can directly affect one another. People are seeking money by watching television shows and reading books written by millionaires who have tremendous power over people, in order to somehow find their monetary jackpot. They are relying on people who have made a lot of money to share their secrets. These people buying into these mediums are trying to “get rich”, but there are many who are not trying to get rich, and simply trying to live their life. Some of these people are living paycheck to paycheck, while others are able to seek money for more pleasurable reasons, using their monetary gain in order to buy new gadgets and technology. Lastly, there are those who are seeking money, but are not willing to work for it, and instead steal it. All of these different demographics of people are seeking money in one form or another and are doing it for the reasons listed previously. Money has become more detrimental to society because it puts power int he hands of the wealthy, and will ultimately divide people rather than unify them. It is also not a fulfillable goal, and is ambiguous in this sense. I believe this ambiguity is part of the reason I seek friendship, because it can be measured and fulfilled, many times over. Friendship can also bring the lasting happiness that money and material objects cannot, because of the temporary fix they are. Overall, people are seeking money and power in todays society, believing that it will make them happy, as well as wanting freedom and sustainability of they lifestyle, but this is a mirage because of the detrimental affects that money and power can
