Pollution is the introduction of harmful substances or products into the environment it can cause health problems for all living organisms. Also pollution is contamination of air, water, or soil by substances that are harmful to living organisms. Pollution can also occur naturally, for example through volcanic eruption and fires. Water pollution decreases water quality which makes it harmful for people and it can’t be used drinking, irrigation, and recreation. Also it 's harmful for organism that live in water and other organisms that use water. Point source pollution is one way water can be polluted. Point source pollution is when the pollution come from one single location. Non-point pollution is another way water can be polluted. Non-point …show more content…
Physical parameters studies that conducted were temperature, stream velocity, flow, Conductivity. The temperature was 11.3 at the Dike and 11.0 at Center Grove Road (CGR). The temperature was high this year compared to the last couple of years because there wasn’t much snow. The Dissolved Oxygen (DO) levels are nearly the same with the dike at 10.5 and the CGR at 10.8. Since the DO levels are high in both areas, they are better for support aquatic life in them. The conductivity levels were higher than the average the dike was at 461 as the CGR was 353. The Dike seems always has more conductivity compared to the the CGR which could mean that the soil at the Dike has more minerals and salts in its area. The flow of the Dike is 1.07 and the CGR is 2.3. The velocity of the Dike is .33 and the CGR is .43. The Flow and velocity of the streams go together because when the flow is low so is the velocity. The CGR tends to always flow and have a high velocity than the dike. The Chemical parameters that were conducted were pH, Alkalinity, phosphate, ammonia, and nitrate. The PH levels at the Dike are 6.9 and the CGR was a 7. The streams are neutral on the pH and are more optimal for organisms. The alkalinity of the two streams have dropped compared to the average of all the years 9 mg/L at the dike and 16 mg/L at CGR. If a body of water has very little buffering material (low alkalinity), it is very susceptible to changes in pH (Western U.P.). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has since adopted the 10 mg/L standard as the maximum contaminant level (MCL) for nitrate-nitrogen and 1 mg/L for nitrite-nitrogen for regulated public water systems (Oram 2014).The levels of nitrate in Streams 10.6 for the dike and 13.6 at the CGR which means the this water is unacceptable drinking water. Total P > 0.03 ppm will increase plant growth and

Water is Florida’s best natural resource in the Sunshine State simply because it surrounds all of Florida and it is what draws people to our state. There are two big beautiful oceans that surround the state of Florida. There are also several lakes, rivers, springs and other bodies of water. Although, the biggest problem in Florida is the pollution going into Florida’s waterways; everyone has a role on the pollution. Homeowner’s are a part of the problem because they are trying to keep their lawns green and lush by using fertilizer and pesticides that eventually run into some type of body of water (Call and Stephenson).…

This data doesn’t support my hypothesis that If we measure farther into the center of the creek then the surface water will travel faster. This data will help us in confirming that despite the amount of pollution in the area that the Conodoguinet creek is not polluted. The test that we performed were as follows Nitrates, Phosphates, Dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, and pH. All these test came back with the results that lead to my conclusion that the Conodoguinet creek. In conclusion, the Conodoguinet creek is a very healthy…

A world without clean water to drink is what we as a universe are approaching. In North Carolina and everywhere else in the world, there ultimately isn’t enough being done to help preserve our freshwater supply as day in and day out things are being done to further harm and damage our water through all types of pollution. At the current rate of pollution were going at as of right now it can easily be said that by a little over a decade that we will not have any reliable source of water considered drinkable, something needs to be done now as we ultimately aren’t doing enough to protect it today. Water pollution is essentially classified as when one or more substances have built up in water to such an extent that they cause problems for animals…

(www.in.gov) An example of a point source polluting waters natural pH levels is when we dump industrial pollutants directly into bodies of water. Another source of pollution produced by humans is mining. Mining exposes rocks to rainwater that produces acidic runoff.…

Water covers up more of the Earth than the land that people occupy, and it is a source that people rely on to live. If so, it should be expected that people will take good care of water. If it should be like that, then why is it that water pollution is one of the largest problems in society today? The ever growing human development and the high demands people put on the world result in the buildings of factories which results in increased severity of water pollution. “In some areas, depletion and pollution of economically important water resources have gone beyond the point of no return, and coping with a future without reliable water resources systems is now a real prospect in parts of the world”, (secretariat of the convention on biological diversity, 2010).…

Consequently, if the algae overfills the creek, organisms will then die out from oxygen shortage (Lenntech 2016). Another Impact of water pollution comes from point pollution. Point pollution is where there is just one point of origin where the problem comes from. In the past, factories would dump their waste in creeks, ponds, streams, or lakes and severely pollute them. Though we have made this illegal, the damage is already done making organisms in certain areas die out not being able to tolerate so much pollution (CreekFreaks 2016).…

They are the only producers that produce certified organic sugar that are completely made in the USA. This company needs to be more aware of the Clean Water Act (1972) which establishes the allowable water pollutant levels emitted by US businesses. In an article, Angry About Florida's Ruined Waters, Fishermen Unite Against Big Sugar, it discusses Fishermen’s stance against the ASR group or Big sugar, polluting the waters with their wastes. The cause of the water pollution are from plumbing, with severe pollution of phosphorus and nitrates.…

Whereas pollution is very apparent in water, the increase in death rate in aquatic animals are rising every year. People under the poverty line are not able to have access to clean water increasing the rate of disease. This should be addressed by the government because, if pollution increases day by day, it can slowly start to affect everyone in the world, increasing the death rate. We, as the environmental and public works committee, believe that water pollution is affecting the nation and it is a growing effect that should be stopped/decreased. Water pollution is caused by the harmful chemicals that are disposed into the ocean or other bodies of water and without adequate treatment to remove the harmful compounds, causing the build up water pollution in water.…
