New Year 2011 Message
Theme: It 's all about Jesus

Our fellowship has had a wonderful 2010. We have seen the hand of God move among us. I am so grateful to God because His Spirit has done a marvelous work in us this past year. It is wonderful to see all of us come together as a family, with one mind as the beautiful bride of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then God was pleased to use us in reaching many who have not heard the Gospel with the good news of Jesus. We have all had one of the best Christmases of our lives.

I believe the Lord is preparing us for something great in 2011.

From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. - Luke 12:48

He was born by God’s power, lived like a monk, preached great sermons and all the people followed him. He was very popular and kings were scared of him. He baptized the Son of God! He could be forgiven if he thought it was his story. Perhaps the greatness of John was not what he is, or what he did, but because he played his part in the story in the best way possible. He recognized that it is not his story.

Read John 3.

To realize our true identity, Jesus needs to increase and the ‘I’ in us needs to decrease.

OUR ACTIONS

Man is a social animal. We like to live in groups. Some like to lead, some like to follow and almost all of us need to be loved, approved, praised and encouraged. We love it when someone says we did a great job. We say that to children to encourage them. We look for approval from our spouses, bosses, pastors and friends.

Our actions are usually influenced by our needs. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs puts the need for Self Esteem or Approval right after our need for physical necessities like food, shelter; Safety and Security and the need to be loved. I want to talk about this need for Approval because it often gets us into trouble and derails us from playing our part right in the story of

One way to evaluate ourselves is by the verse in
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others - Philippians 2:3-4

And above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins – 1 Peter 4:8

Let’s give God the paper, the pen and the freedom to write the script for us in any way He chooses.
When we do that, we can be sure to have a great ending that God planned for our story.

Therefore, be imitators of God as beloved children – Ephesians 5:1
When we realize our true identity and learn to act our part right, we will see a great revival and transformation around us and God’s Kingdom will be established on earth.

It’s not about us. It’s all about Jesus for His glory and His fame.

Let us examine ourselves: Are there any roadblocks to us playing our role?

Do we feel we are more important than the role given to us? Could it be resentment because someone else has the role we like to play? Do we think we can write a better

In our textbook, Rachels argues that people require humility and the understanding of where they stand in the universe. He believes that we should treat people the way they deserve to be treated and that we should hope these actions are reciprocated onto us. He believes that there are multiple strategies in finding where we are in life, such as comparing one’s life to that of other’s. We must know that we are not alone in this world and that we have an obligation in taking care of others. Rachels believes that we are rewarded for our work and self-improvement, but not our luck.…

Apologetics comes from the Greek word apologia meaning defense or to give answer. Apologetics did not arise later in church history. Indeed, it proffered itself plainly in the New Testament. Moreover, the Bible commands us to give answer or to be apologists as stated in the Bible, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame (1 Peter 3:15-16).…

    Immanuel Kant Reciprocity

As children, the majority of us were taught some version of the golden rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” While commonly, this virtue is credited to biblical teachings that appear in Luke 6:31 and Matthew 7:12, it is actually a universal notion that emerges throughout multiple cultures, religions, and philosophical ideas. This rule, known collectively as the ethics of reciprocity, appears in Buddhism as “hurt not others with that which pains yourself,” in Judaism as, “though shalt love thy neighbor as thyself,” and in other variations throughout Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Confucianism. It is important to note, however, that ethics of reciprocity are not only present in religious contexts. Great Philosophers such as John Locke, Voltaire, and Thomas Jefferson (in his words in the Declaration of Independence), were all also proponents of the golden rule.…

Jesus’ identity and purpose has been a great source of discussion and investigation through the years. Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world. Jesus came to show us the correct way to live and direct our actions towards others. For example, in Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus speaks about loving one’s enemies. He mentions how important it is to love, bless and pray for those who curse, hate, use and persecute us (Matthew 5:44).…
